amazingly brave and stoic dog found on the rez and who was in jeopardy: emaciated and with severe injuries to both front and back legs, the later with an open pressure blister. we've paid a several hundred dollars in vet bills and it appears he had a treatable bone infection. he's been on antibiotics just a few days and is doing vastly better and he's discovered the wonder of regular nourishing meals. before, he needed to be lifted to go outside, now he goes on his own. if a door is open for him, he's housebroken. he has a wonderful personality though he's clearly never been shown affection before coming here. with a great home this dog will comprise a brilliant rags to riches story of success. when he's healthy enough, he'll be neutered. Guesses concerning the dogs breed are only based on my own limited knowledge of the wealth of breeds. Running Dog Ranch is a Colorado Dept of Agriculture registered animal rescue facility asks a minimum of 100.00$ for an animal adoption to help defray the many costs associated with permanently housing two dozen animals, many of them geriatric and with considerable health costs. Obviously larger donations are more than welcome :-) Finding excellent homes for the dogs is our first priority: it is too easy for people to claim they'll take good care of dogs but later to demonstrate otherwise. we will interview prospective adopters thoroughly so don't take offense: there will be a home visit and we require signatures to the standard Petfinder contract which legally binds you to high standards of care for the animal.
