cathy found this puppy wandering down the highway near teec nos pos on the navaho nation. no sign of siblings or a mother dog. this is a tiny dog, but of what breed is anyone's guess. he could be a coyote/ prairie dog mix for all i know, but petfinder's data input insists we name two breeds, so whatever.... we're calling him mighty mouse because despite his diminutive size, he can more than take care of himself in this shelter with 17 dogs much larger than he. feisty, playful, affectionate, and apparently in fine health, mighty mouse is simply an adorable puppy. the last photos show mighty with his girlfriend maya, who is also super groovy and adoptable. updated with new pictures on july 11, xxxx update june 13th. unbelievably this wonderful dog has not been yet adopted. he's still a puppy but he's growing (clearly he's not a chihuahua as speculated before). great little rascal! quite a few recent deadbeats have compelled us to insist upon a shelter donation for adoptions. we rescue animals entirely out-of-pocket and have huge food bills, and with geriatric dogs we have substantial vet bills. 100$ will be required for an adoption. home inspections are generally required which makes local (within a few hours of cortez, colorado) adoptions preferable.
